Health: For your pet’s safety, Star Pet Grooming must be made aware of any and all known health issues regarding your pet at the time of scheduling. Groomers reserves the right to deny service at any point due to the health of your pet. Pets with health issues that may be exasperated by the grooming process must be approved for grooming by a veterinarian.
Pets with the following conditions will be turned away without exception:

  • Severe Injuries – broken/ fractured bones
  • Open wounds
  • Stitches
  • Heartworm Disease

Fleas, Lice, and Other Parasites: It is recommended that pets are kept on a flea and tick preventative. Pets with active fleas, lice, or other parasites will be denied service and must be treated and cleared by a veterinarian before they are eligible to be groomed.

Behavior: Behavior is assessed at each grooming appointment. While our groomers understand pets may be a bit stressed, aggression of any kind is taken seriously as there is potential for injury. To aid in the grooming process – muzzles, e-collars (cones), slings, straps, etc. may be used in order to complete the groom in a safe way. While every effort is made to complete all aspects of your requested grooming service, the groomer reserves the right to end the grooming session at any point if deemed necessary due to behavior or your pet’s stress level.

Senior Pets: As with most activities, senior pets may be a bit more stressed during the grooming process. In return, groom times can be longer as more breaks and rest are often required. While grooms will be completed as quickly as possible please allow your groomer more time to perform services. If services become too stressful for your pet, your groomer reserves the right to end the grooming session at any time, if deemed necessary.

Matted Fur: Mats are tightly knotted fur that rests against your pet’s skin and can be extremely painful. They are unable to be brushed out and usually require your pet to be shaved in order to remove the matting safely.

Oftentimes, shaving mats may cause or reveal pre-existing conditions and or injuries such as, but not limited to: inflammation, infections, blood circulation issues, bruising, and mobility restrictions.

Allowing your pet’s coat to become matted is uncomfortable and dangerous for your pet. Star Pet Grooming will demat your pet (if possible) and an extra charge may be added. Additional charges are determined on a per-pet basis. If you request to have the mats combed/brushed out, your groomer will only do so if it does NOT cause your pet undue stress or pain.

Please Note: Excessive de-matting is extremely painful, time-consuming, and can aggravate (or cause) skin problems.

Kennels: Star Pet Grooming utility kennels during the period in which your pet is not being actively groomed. Kennels allow for a safe place for your pet to rest and take breaks.

In the instance you do not wish for your pet to be kenneled, or your pet is unable to be kenneled, please inform Star Pet Grooming prior to booking an appointment.

A “Speed Service” appointment is available and will be required in these situations. Additional fees will apply.

Emergencies: Upon check-in, our groomer will require a number where you can be reached immediately while your pet is being groomed. In the event of a serious medical emergency, your pet will be examined and treated by the veterinarian on staff at Star Veterinary Centers.

Star Pet Grooming is not liable, financially or otherwise, for any pre-existing conditions, injuries, or sudden death unrelated to the grooming experience.

Cancellation Policy: If you cannot make it to your appointment, please kindly call to cancel your appointment at least 24 hours in advance. Cancelling your appointment with less than 24 hours notice will result in a late cancellation fee of $15. You will also be required to place a non- refundable deposit of $15 for your next appointment. Refusal to pay these fees will result in an end to the client relationship.

Late Arrival Policy: Please arrive within the first 15 minutes of your appointment start time. Due to high demand, we cannot most often accommodate late arrivals past the 15 minute mark. If we are still willing to see your pet, an additional $15 late arrival fee will be added to your final bill.

You are allotted 3 of these no show instances before the client relationship is ended.

Pet Pick-Up Policy: It is important that your pet is picked up promptly after their groom. If your pet can be kenneled, you have a total of 1 hour after you have been contacted for pick up to retrieve your pet. Leaving your pet with us past the 1 hour mark will result in a Kennel Fee of $20. Each additional half hour after that is an additional $20 fee.
