Meet Carlee!
Franklin Location
Hey everyone!! I am beyond excited to be the new pet groomer here at Star Pet Grooming! Growing up I have always had a soft spot for our furry friends. I mean what’s better than snuggling a clean- good-smelling four-legged friend?!?
I followed my love for animals into the grooming field and began my professional career in July 2018. Fast forward to today and honestly there’s nothing else I’d rather do!
To me, being a great groomer is more than straight cuts and brushes full of hair. It’s building bonds with clients, taking the time to learn your pet’s individual personality, and practicing continuous growth at my craft. While my goal is always to make your pet comfortable and exceed your expectations, your pet’s health and safety is always my top priority.
Trying new styles is always a fun task and I invite any ideas you may have. I welcome open conversations and love working alongside pet owners to help manage their furry friend’s coats. When not tending to clients I enjoy spending time with my own four-legged friends at home. My pack includes an adorable feline named Pandora, a leopard gecko named Goggard, and a handsome bearded dragon named Mr. Mars!
I look forward to meeting new clients, developing long-lasting relationships, and pampering your furry friends!
Meet Emily!
Franklin Location
Hi!!! My name is Emily, it’s with great pleasure that I get to introduce myself as a new member of Star Pet grooming!! Growing up I always had a huge love for animals no matter the size! In high school I worked with horses and in 2022 I began my career as a dog handler/bather. Durning my time in this position I would monitor dogs in play groups, take care of their food, water bowls, etc. but my favorite part overall was giving the dogs their baths and getting to pamper them! It was my first experience getting hands on in the grooming world. I was lucky enough to have groomers there to help answer all of the curious questions I had. That’s when I knew, my purpose in life is to take care of my furry friends and find out how to enter the grooming world! Jumping ahead to June 2024, I had a great opportunity to start as an apprentice groomer at Star Vet! I and have been learning the ropes to the art of grooming by a very talented Carlee. Over the course of working along her side I have become more educated and am gaining more experience hands on with haircuts. I and am looking forward to gaining more knowledge along the way and one day be a groomer on my own! Being in this career field brings me happiness and the upmost passion in life, I love getting to take care of your pets and look forward to meeting all our clients!
Our Grooming FAQs
Does my pet need to be up to date on vaccinations before grooming?
- Yes. Having your pet up to date on vaccinations not only protects your pet but other pets in the center as well.
Dogs must be up to date on Rabies, DAPP (Distemper) & Bordetella (Kennel Cough)
Cats must be up to date on Rabies & FVRCP (Distemper) - Please have your pet vaccinations handy at the time of check-in or email them to us at grooming@starvetfranklin.com or grooming@starvetmuskego.com before the appointment.
How much will the groom cost?
- Prices are based on several factors and can vary depending on the services selected, the breed of pet, the condition of the coat, as well as their health and behavior.
- All services have a base price which can increase. The most accurate pricing can be given in an estimate at the time of check-in. This occurs once the groomer has the chance to assess your pet’s needs.
How long does the groom take?
- Groom times vary depending on the services being rendered and the behavior of your pet. Generally, the groomer asks for 3-4 hours, to allow for breaks if needed, however, your pet will be finished as quickly as possible and you will be contacted for pick up.
Do you kennel my pet?
- Yes, to ensure the safety of all pets in the grooming center, kennels are utilized in order to avoid interactions with other pets and provide a safe place for breaks and awaiting pickup.
- If your pet cannot be kenneled or has known anxiety issues, accommodations can be made by speaking directly with our groomer. Additional fees may apply.
How is my pet dried?
- We will select the most appropriate drying method for your pet based on variables such as hair type, breed, behavior and health. If you have concerns regarding the drying of your pet please discuss this directly with the groomer.
If my pet doesn’t like grooming can you sedate?
- Yes, one benefit to being located in Star Veterinary Centers is the veterinarian is able to sedate your pet and monitor their vitals during the grooming process.
- This specialty appointment would require an appointment with the veterinarian as well as a direct conversation with the groomer. Additional fees will apply.
Grooming POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
Age: Pets must be at least 16 weeks of age.
Vaccines: The following vaccinations must be up to date and on file for all pets. Proof must be present prior to or at the time of your pet’s grooming check-in.
Dogs: Rabies, DAPP (Distemper) & Bordetella (Kennel Cough)
Cats: Rabies & FVRCP (Distemper)
Health: For your pet’s safety, Star Pet Grooming must be made aware of any and all known health issues regarding your pet at the time of scheduling. Groomers reserves the right to deny service at any point due to the health of your pet. Pets with health issues that may be exasperated by the grooming process must be approved for grooming by a veterinarian.
Pets with the following conditions will be turned away without exception:
- Severe Injuries – broken/ fractured bones
- Open wounds
- Stitches
- Heartworm Disease
Fleas, Lice, and Other Parasites: It is recommended that pets are kept on a flea and tick preventative. Pets with active fleas, lice, or other parasites will be denied service and must be treated and cleared by a veterinarian before they are eligible to be groomed.
Behavior: Behavior is assessed at each grooming appointment. While our groomers understand pets may be a bit stressed, aggression of any kind is taken seriously as there is potential for injury. To aid in the grooming process – muzzles, e-collars (cones), slings, straps, etc. may be used in order to complete the groom in a safe way. While every effort is made to complete all aspects of your requested grooming service, the groomer reserves the right to end the grooming session at any point if deemed necessary due to behavior or your pet’s stress level.
Senior Pets: As with most activities, senior pets may be a bit more stressed during the grooming process. In return, groom times can be longer as more breaks and rest are often required. While grooms will be completed as quickly as possible please allow your groomer more time to perform services. If services become too stressful for your pet, your groomer reserves the right to end the grooming session at any time, if deemed necessary.
Matted Fur: Mats are tightly knotted fur that rests against your pet’s skin and can be extremely painful. They are unable to be brushed out and usually require your pet to be shaved in order to remove the matting safely.
Oftentimes, shaving mats may cause or reveal pre-existing conditions and or injuries such as, but not limited to: inflammation, infections, blood circulation issues, bruising, and mobility restrictions.
Allowing your pet’s coat to become matted is uncomfortable and dangerous for your pet. Star Pet Grooming will demat your pet (if possible) and an extra charge may be added. Additional charges are determined on a per-pet basis. If you request to have the mats combed/brushed out, your groomer will only do so if it does NOT cause your pet undue stress or pain.
Please Note: Excessive de-matting is extremely painful, time-consuming, and can aggravate (or cause) skin problems.
Kennels: Star Pet Grooming utility kennels during the period in which your pet is not being actively groomed. Kennels allow for a safe place for your pet to rest and take breaks.
In the instance you do not wish for your pet to be kenneled, or your pet is unable to be kenneled, please inform Star Pet Grooming prior to booking an appointment.
A “Speed Service” appointment is available and will be required in these situations. Additional fees will apply.
Emergencies: Upon check-in, our groomer will require a number where you can be reached immediately while your pet is being groomed. In the event of a serious medical emergency, your pet will be examined and treated by the veterinarian on staff at Star Veterinary Centers.
Star Pet Grooming is not liable, financially or otherwise, for any pre-existing conditions, injuries, or sudden death unrelated to the grooming experience.
Cancellation Policy: If you cannot make it to your appointment, please kindly call to cancel your appointment at least 24 hours in advance. Cancelling your appointment with less than 24 hours notice will result in a late cancellation fee of $15. You will also be required to place a non- refundable deposit of $15 for your next appointment. Refusal to pay these fees will result in an end to the client relationship.
Late Arrival Policy: Please arrive within the first 15 minutes of your appointment start time. Due to high demand, we cannot most often accommodate late arrivals past the 15 minute mark. If we are still willing to see your pet, an additional $15 late arrival fee will be added to your final bill.
No Call No Show Policy: Missing your pet’s appointment without notifying us in any way will result in a No-Show fee of $30. You will also be required to place a non- refundable deposit of $15 for your next appointment. Refusal to pay these fees will result in an end to the client relationship. You are allotted 3 of these no show instances before the client relationship is ended.
Payment: All services are to be paid in full at the time services are rendered. Financial concerns should be discussed with the groomer prior to the start of grooming. A written estimate may be provided upon request prior to services being rendered. As grooming services may need to vary – estimates should not be considered an exact total.
Any services and or treatment rendered by the veterinarian on staff at Star Veterinary Centers will also be due in full at the time of pick up.
Payment Methods: Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express, cash and check.
