Alyana
Groomer
My name is Alayna (uh-LAY-nuh) and I’m SO excited to be a new member of the Star Vet family! Beginning in April I will be your Muskego location groomer- but in the meantime you may find me helping out around the clinic and moonlighting as a Franklin location groomer as needed.
For as long as I can remember, I’ve always had a desire to spend my free time with furry friends. As a child, my grandfather instilled in me a sense of wonder and respect for all living things through his love for competing with sporting breed dogs. His influence shaped my lifelong passion for animals, guiding me to see them not just as creatures, but as companions- each with its own story to tell.
After working with animals in a boarding/daycare setting beginning in 2014 and graduating from cosmetology school in 2019- I had an epiphany… Why not merge my love for hair AND animals?! Thus, my grooming career was born. I completed my grooming apprenticeship at a private shop in Wauwatosa, Wi and have since held lead groomer positions at shops in both Brookfield and Milwaukee.
While much of my time “working” is spent snuggling your sweet four legged family members, I believe my time with each animal in my care is essential for the whole-health of the animal. The art of a completed groom is most often eye catching and visually appealing! But to me, a successful groom includes a thorough understanding of the skin and coat heath of the animal, open communication with the pet parent to better aid in understanding their pets needs, and creating a trusting bond with each family I meet!
When I’m not at work, I enjoy spending all of my free time with my fiance Billy, my daughters Sophia & Violet, our yellow labs Willie & Opie, our cats Wayne & Georgia, and the plethora of aquatic life in our home! I love exploring the outdoors on hiking trails with my daughters and pups, and you can almost always cheer me up with a trip to a history museum! I firmly believe there is a difference to be made in each animal’s life and I’m so excited to aid the Star Vet team in doing that!

Makayla
Client Care Specialist
Makayla embarked on her journey into the pet industry a few years back. By working at boarding facilities and daycares, her expertise and passion for pets grew significantly. Joining our team in 2024 as a Client Care Specialist, she is excited to expand her knowledge in the veterinary field while cross-training as a Veterinary Assistant.
Makayla’s Story
I’ve always loved animals and was eager to begin a career in the pet industry. Taking the first step towards my goals, I accepted a position at a local dog boarding/daycare facility. After a couple of years, I realized that this career path was truly what I desired. As a team member at StarVet, I am excited to explore new opportunities, enroll in school to further my education and create bonds with our clients and patients.
As a Client Care Specialist, I am the first and last person you will see! Keeping our reception running smoothly enables our technicians and doctors to focus on patient care. Among the traditional office work, my duties are to provide an exceptional client experience and maintain the gold standard of care for our patients.
Outside of work, I love the summertime! Being outdoors and doing activities such as hiking, swimming, concerts, and going to beaches are my ideas for a fun time. When home, I enjoy spending time with my furry friends. Yoda, a Rat Terrier, and my new kitten, Mac! Their playmates also reside with us: a one-year-old Golden Retriever and a curious kitty named Miller. Needless to say, there’s never a dull moment in our home.
I look forward to building bonds with our clients and making a difference in veterinary medicine!

Melissa’s Story
Since I was a young child I wanted to be a veterinarian, unfortunately veterinary school proved to be too competitive to gain entrance to. In spite of this, I continued to dedicate myself to growing within my profession. I sincerely enjoy educating clients and providing high quality care to our patients.
As a Hospital Manager, I oversee many areas of the practice. Behind the scenes I am maintaining the flow and organization of the practice, implementing protocols based on the most current veterinary standards, training staff, maintaining medical equipment, and managing the hospital’s inventory and essential supplies. As the lead technician, I use my skills and experience to collect blood and urine samples, monitor anesthesia during surgical procedures, perform lab work, and take radiographs, while providing a calm and stress-free environment for our patients. My main focus is making sure the practice upholds the highest of medical standards and our client service rises above clients’ expectations.
Outside of work my son keeps me busy. We enjoy traveling and going on adventures together! Of course I have 3 furry friends of my own -Koneko, Little Baby and Louie are 3 long haired orange and white cats who are always ready for some snuggles.
I look forward to making StarVet a practice where clients know their pets are in good hands.

Jazmyn’s Story
If you would have asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up, the answer was always the same. A Veterinarian! I have always had a love for animals and wanted to be able to show them the care and compassion they deserve.
Connecting my studies to real life have helped expand my love for this field and I enjoy walking into work each and every day!
As a Veterinary Assistant, my tasks are many! Focusing on patient care and practicing the gold standard of medicine is extremely important to me. While assisting our DVM, a couple of my duties would include: handling in-house labs, filling your pets medications, taking radiographs and assuring all your questions are addressed.
Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my furry felines, Oliver and Gus. While I enjoy getting together with friends, listening to music and reading – nothing beats a good nap snuggling with my kitties. They have brought so much love, joy and fur into our home

SANCHEZ & CARLOS PRACTICE MASCOTS!
Have you met our Clinic Kitties?
Sanchez and Carlos were rescued in 2009 from MADACC and have been living their best life ever since! They reside at the practice and have many caretakers they have trained well! When not greeting clients and running under our feet, you can find them snuggled in their beds or practicing their favorite activity – eating!

Kaelyn
Veterinary Assistant
Kaelyn entered into the pet industry in 2017 and has grown quickly in her skills. Attending UW Lacrosse for 3 years focusing on a degree in biology before deciding to follow her heart and pursue a Veterinary Technician degree instead. Working as a Veterinary Assistant she joined our team in early 2022 and continues to further her education with each day that passes.
Kaelyn’s Story
From my early days of childhood, animals have always held a special place in my heart. As I got older I realized that helping animals was something I wanted to explore and decided pursuing a veterinary career was the way to go. Since beginning my career I have no regrets and can’t wait to see what the future holds.
As a Veterinary Assistant, I am responsible for your fur baby from the moment they step into the practice and until they leave. While I may not be your pet’s favorite person at the moment, I enjoy making pets comfortable while they receive their treatments. From blood draws to surgery assistance, I work alongside the veterinarian and take pride in being with your pet every step of the way.
Outside of work, I love to explore different restaurants and experiences in the good company of some trusted friends. I have 2 furry friends that keep me busy daily. Our family pet Riley, is 10 years old and has mastered begging for food. Theo is all my own!
A 4-year-old dachshund that definitely brings life to the phrase “big dog in a little dog body” with his confidence.
I look forward to mastering my skills and being able to provide your pets with a calming and comfortable experience at the vet.

Ruth
Veterinary Assistant
Ruth began her journey in 2020 working as Pet Care Associate in the pet industry. Ensuring adoptable pets were healthy and well taken care of jump-started her decision to make pet health care a full-time passion. Joining our practice in 2021, she is currently enrolled in the CVT program and continues her studies both inside and outside the practice.
Ruth’s Story
I always had a heart for caring and have owned pets all my life. Being able to advocate for our furry friends and care for their needs makes this profession more rewarding than any other I can think of. It’s an amazing feeling to be able to help not only the patients but our clients as well.
As a Veterinary Assistant, I work closely with our veterinarians and CVT to ensure all medical treatments are completed and our patients are comfortable. We work collectively as a team to ensure our patients receive the highest standards of medical care available. After treatments, I spend time with the owners to effectively communicate any instructions for aftercare, review medications, and address any questions or concerns they may have. A VA’s job is never complete!
I manage to stay just as busy outside of work as I do when I’m here! I reside with my partner in crime, Luis, and all of our rescued pets! Together we have 3 furry felines that love hard and fight endlessly. They keep me on my toes! When not giving smooches to these feisty felines I love taking naps and listening to music.
I look forward to being a voice for your pets and helping clients continue on their pet parenting journey!

Stephanie
C.V.T.
Stephanie’s passion for animals started at a young age. Shortly after graduating high school, a college tutor inspired her to explore the veterinary field. After shadowing a local veterinary practice, she was sold on the profession! Moving to Madison, Stephanie applied to the Veterinary Technician Program at Madison College and graduated in 2018. As a Certificated Veterinary Technician, she moved to the Milwaukee area and began her career. Joining our team in 2023, she continues to expand her knowledge and teach our staff along the way.
Stephanie’s Story
From the time that I was a young girl, I was obsessed with animals. Growing up in the Northwoods, I was always bringing home injured or abandoned critters that I would find. Our house was filled with a collection of creatures, from hamsters to parakeets to even a fawn at one time!
Throughout my career, I have been incredibly blessed to work with some amazing doctors. Guiding me along the way, they encouraged me to jump in and gain experience. I have been able to explore different aspects of veterinary medicine such as advanced surgical procedures, ultrasounds, and holistic alternatives. My true passion thrives in the technical aspects of my title such as blood draws, assisting with surgical procedures, and advanced diagnostics.
One of my favorite aspects of this profession is the relationships I build with clients and the trust that is continued beyond the care of their pets. I also believe in making sure our patients have a positive experience each time they come to the practice. To achieve this goal I utilize my Fear Free techniques as learned in my certification.
Outside of work, I love reading, relaxing with some yoga, and discovering new places to develop my photography skills. I currently reside in the village of Greendale with my significant other, a very fluffy feline named Finn, and a crested gecko named Nika.
I look forward to meeting you and your furry family members!

Bri
Client Care Specialist
Bri started gaining experience in the pet industry straight after high school. After realizing her passion for the profession she transferred over to a veterinary setting and joined our team in 2021. She continues to expand her knowledge through hands-on experience, training with our experienced staff members, and online learning.
Bri’s Story
I’ve always had a huge passion when it came to animals in general and wanted to expand my knowledge while furthering my career at a place that makes a difference.
Working in vet med has opened my eyes to all the different levels of care and I find myself learning something new each day. As I carry my compassion and love for animals my goals are set higher than ever. I am excited to continue to grow in my career as I gain more medical experience and pass my knowledge on to our clients.
As a Client Care Specialist, I take great pride in being involved in many areas of the practice. We probably first met while you were scheduling your pets’ appointments and then upon arriving at the practice. When I’m not at the reception desk greeting our clients and patients you will find me in the treatment area assisting where I can. I learned quickly there is always something to assist with even if it’s outside of your job description. I’m always happy to lend a helping hand.
Life outside of work is as busy as ever! Not only am I a newlywed but the proud Momma of a baby girl! Excluding the 4 black angelfish that I love to watch to relieve stress, I have 2 fur babies that anxiously await my arrival each day. Dean is a border collie/rat terrier mix that I have owned since I was 14. He was my first personal experience in my forever-growing love for animals and has been with me through some of my biggest milestones. Athena is my chunky, shy feline who I adopted at a former job. Although she definitely favors my husband, she shows her sweet side when he is away or when I have a treat! In my spare time, you can find me spending time with my family, reading, or making my way to get an iced coffee.
I look forward to helping put our clients at ease while caring for their pets.

CARIE, CVBL
Office Manager / Marketing Coordinator
Carie began her veterinary career in 2001 after being in the pet field for a couple of years prior. Following her ambitions, she started as a Client Care Specialist and quickly grew into multiple positions throughout the practice. Gaining hands-on experience in each position has aided her in becoming the manager she is today. Joining our team in 2018 Carie has continued her education and gained her CVBL certification as well as multiple certifications in marketing. With over 20 years of experience, her skills are put to good use daily.
Carie’s Story
My passion for animals actually began before I even knew the veterinary profession existed. My aunt ran a non-profit wildlife rescue and my earliest memories of animals were feeding the baby squirrels with an eyedropper in the middle of the night. I loved every minute of it, helping to make a difference. As I got older I realized that I too could make a difference by not only helping animals but also helping pet parents through support and education. The rest is history!
As a Manager & Marketing Coordinator, my duties vary greatly from day to day. Some days I may be updating our policies and procedures while the next, I am creating a marketing campaign that helps educate pet parents on the benefits of preventative vaccinations.
With each day, my goal is to create an environment where the staff is happy and engaged, our patients are comfortable and our client’s expectations are met at each interaction. Keeping the practice flowing is always the objective!
My home vibe is just as busy as my work life. With 4 children, 2 dogs, 3 cats, and a fiancee – there’s never a dull moment in the house! My duties as a mother definitely keep me active and help me strive to be better each day. In my spare time, I enjoy woodworking, being a vendor at crafting and rescue events, and spending time with family and friends.
I look forward to constantly improving my client’s experience, helping to keep pets healthy, and encouraging our staff at each level in their careers.

DR. BONSTROM
Veterinarian
Dr. Bonstrom’s education started at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa where she obtained her undergraduate in Biochemistry and History. From there she continued to pursue her DVM at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and graduated in 2018. After graduation, Dr. Bonstrom moved to Milwaukee and continued gaining experience from several busy practices before landing with us at Star Veterinary Centers.
Dr. Bonstrom’s Story
Since childhood, I’ve wanted to be a veterinarian. I’ve always had a love of animals (especially cats!), a passion for helping people, and a strong interest in biology, medicine, and “how things work”. Though there were attempts to steer me towards human medicine, my experiences shadowing my hometown veterinarian helped solidify my desire to pursue veterinary medicine.
As a veterinarian, I do a little bit of everything. That variety is something I really enjoy about my job. No two days are ever the same! Besides providing wellness and preventative care services such as physical exams, parasite prevention, and vaccines, I also enjoy general surgeries and dental extractions. Behind the scenes, I am interpreting diagnostic results from tests like cytology to radiographs and bloodwork. These diagnostics help me treat many different types of illnesses and injuries as well as help pets through palliative and end-of-life care.
After a long day, I enjoy returning home to my cats -Beanie and Maverick! These 2 littermates are black in color and are longhair domestics which I adopted during my first year in veterinary school. I also have a Leopard Gecko named Sunny! Outside of work I enjoy traveling, exploring the Milwaukee area, spending time outdoors, and visiting with family and friends.
I look forward to getting to know our clients and creating long-lasting bonds with our patients. Star Veterinary Center welcomes you!

I have more than 20 years of exceptional client service experience in small animal medicine since graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Veterinary Medicine. Outside of the clinic, I enjoy spending time with my husband, our daughter, and our two dogs Finn and Zoe.

Dr. Dhillon’s Story
Being a veterinarian is extremely rewarding, as I am a compassionate person who loves science, and helping pets and people. I believe It’s important to be transparent with our clients and involve them in the decision-making process regarding their pet’s care. Communication is a key component in making the best decisions for your pet.
Health care shouldn’t be complicated as it creates unnecessary stress for both owners and pets. I take pride in solving medical & surgical cases in a calm, uncomplicated non stressful manner while communicating treatment options to owners. This approach allows owners to be involved in their pet’s health care and make informed medical decisions.
In my spare time away from work, I enjoy running marathons and spending time with my wife, family, and friends. Together we have four beautiful children, a 9-year-old yellow lab and a 4-year-old cat.
